Faith

ANYTIME someone makes you a promise, and you believe it, you exercise faith. So faith leads you to act in a certain way.

Abraham exercised faith when God told him to leave his father’s house for a land that God would show him. (Genesis 12:1-4)

He left as instructed, believing God to see what God would do, and God kept his word.

FAITH is putting your trust and inherent confidence in God, believing that he will do as he has promised.

And when you walk according to His mindset, God puts you on His plan.

CALEB and JOSHUA walked according to his mindset and God put them on His plan.

They stopped thinking like men and started reasoning like God; they moved from the mundane to the supernatural.

FAITH creates a distinction. It sets you apart from the multitude.

When Hebrew mothers gave up on their sons in Egypt, Jocebed, the mother of Moses, held on to hers.

She placed him in an ark and put him in the water, while Miriam, Moses’ sister, waited to see what would happen to him. (Exodus 2:1-8)

FAITH heightens your expectation.

When the twelve Jewish men spied out Canaan and returned, Caleb and Joshua said: “Let us go up at once and take possession of it; for we will certainly conquer it.” (Numbers 13:30)

FAITH makes God remember you.

God remembered Caleb and said: But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring him into the land into which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it. (Numbers 14:24)

FAITH makes you see God in every situation.

It made Job see God when life was good and when life wasn't.

When his friends began to say things, he said, “Even though He kills me, I will hope in Him. Nevertheless, I will argue my ways to His face. (Job 13:15)

FAITH stays with you when you lose everything and becomes your pivot when you have nothing.

Paul had nothing except his faith in God when he was being transported to Rome.

When they ran into a storm and hadn't eaten for days, God sent his angel to him.

‘Stop being afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar; and behold, God has given you the lives of all those who are sailing with you’ the angel said. (Acts 27:13-44)

FAITH stayed with Ruth when she lost her husband.

And when Naomi (her mother-in-law) released her to go, she said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people will be my people, and your God, my God.” (Ruth 1:16)

FAITH makes you speak in a way that people cannot resist.

King Saul could not resist David’s words when he said, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”

And Saul responded, “Go, and may the Lord be with you.” (1 Samuel 17:37)

FAITH puts you where you seek God when all you see is not God.

When some men came to tell Jehoshaphat that a great army was coming from Edom, he was afraid.

So he set his face to seek the Lord and called a fast throughout Judah.

Then, he prayed: “O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” (2 Chronicles 20:12)

‘Faith puts you where you seek God when all you see is not God’

FAITH makes you see God as watching over his word so that it is performed. (Jeremiah 1:12)

It makes you put your money where your mouth is.

Jehoshaphat put his money where his mouth was when he told the children of Israel to believe in the Lord their God, and they would be established. They should believe in his servants, the prophets, and they would prosper. (2 Chronicles 20:20)

They believed God, and he watched over his words and performed them.

Final Thoughts

FAITH is the bridge over troubled waters.
